TROPICAL
FRUITS and VEGETABLES
During the winter growing season, we grow as assortment of vegetables, herbs and
edible flowers. These are available for sale through our
Community-Supported Agriculture
(CSA) farm membership program and Farmers Market.
Avocados
In the summer, our primary product is
avocados. We grow the Donnie and Hardee varieties, both early avocados which
average anywhere from 18-27oz
when mature. If you're used to the small Mexican avocado varieties such as the
Hass avocado, these will seem GIGANTIC to you! These
pictures say it all. The picture on the left shows the nice flesh-to-seed ratio
on the Donnie avocados. The other picture shows 3 avocados. The middle one is a Hass avocado-
probably the kind your local grocer carries-flanked by ours. On its right is a typical Donnie
from our grove, ready to eat. On its left is one of our Hardee avocados. It's
starting to change color, showing it is almost ready to eat. Its skin will turn
a pretty burgundy color just as it ripens.

ORGANIC
FARMING & SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE~
PRESERVING OUR FUTURE
Here in South Florida,
our subtropical climate enables us to grow many tropical varieties of fruits, vegetables
herbs and edible flowers quite successfully. The high humidity and warm climate present unique disease, weed and pest
control challenges to organic growers.
In keeping with our commitment
to future generations, we adhere to strict organic practices and use sustainable
agriculture methods whenever possible.
A few years ago we formed Redland Organics, a
loosely-organized group
of local organic and sustainable growers working together towards a common goal -
to stimulate our local economy and support local small family farms while
providing the
consumer with high-quality, locally-grown, organic and pesticide-free produce at a reasonable cost.
We started a Community-Supported
Agriculture (CSA)
farm membership program several years ago. It has become quite popular. We
offer weekly shares of vegetables, herbs, edible flowers, honey and eggs from November through April for
South Florida residents in the tri-county area of Miami-Dade, Monroe and Broward.
We also sell at our local Farmers Market. Come see us every Sunday
8am-1pm January through March at the South
Florida Farmers Market in Pinecrest. The market is sponsored by Gardner's
Markets and is located at their Pinecrest store off US1 & SW 124th
Street.
