One of the best growing areas for good Pinot Grigio is the region of Trentino-Alto Adige in northern Italy, the source of our October Monthly White. The small, idyllic village of Mezzocorona lies at the northern edge of the beautiful Campo Rotaliano - a broad, flat plain at the confluence of the Noce and Adige Rivers surrounded by the rugged Alps. The benchlands above the rivers provide an excellent habitat for white wine grapes, and the Pinot Grigio, to our collective mind, is the best white variety of the area.
